This is an Anhui varietal dark tea that is often compared with puerh. Like ripe puerh, Anhui dark tea undergoes a similar method of fermentation (wo dui or "wet piling"). Rather than being pressed into cakes or bricks however, the leaves are tightly pressed into bamboo baskets.
The tea soup is burgundy which yields a strong sweet flavor with an Anhui characteristic spiciness. Mild hints of sour Chinese Medicine decoction flavors make this a truly unique tea.
