Ripe Puerh Tea (Loose) 熟茶

from $10.00

This is a delicious example of loose leaf ripe puerh.  This tea differs from raw puerh as it goes through a process of fermentation that is very similar to composting.  Because of its high microbial levels it makes for a superior digestive tonic, commonly drunk after a heavy or greasy meal.  Women in China drink this tea frequently not only for its delicious flavor profile but for its function of promoting weight loss.  Lightly aged in Menghai, Yunnan, much of the wo dui (wet pile fermenting) flavor has already dissipated.  The leaves are teji grade (very small) and yield a robust and creamy dark tea soup.

With a pleasant and warming Cha Qi (tea energy) this tea is served best after a heavy meal or on gray and cold days.  It's a strong digestive tonic and is frequently used in China to stimulate digestion and promote weight loss.
